Tiger's eye is a golden-brown quartz with a silky band of light that moves as the stone turns. It forms when quartz slowly replaces a fibrous mineral and keeps its parallel fibers, which catch the light; iron gives it its warm color, and most of it comes from South Africa and Australia.
